I am currently the Storage Engineering Team Lead for DFAS Infrastructure and Production Support, Infrastructure Engineering Division – Network & Storage Engineering team.  I am responsible for all aspects of DFAS’s multi-petabyte storage ecosystem spanning across 11 geographically diverse sites serving over 15,000 users.  I am well versed in current and developing technologies in both the network and virtualization realms and constantly research and evaluate these technologies for implementation within our infrastructure.  Currently, my main focus is to build and expand the DFAS Storage team into an Enterprise Storage provider, offering services to both internal and external business units.  

Responsibilities:
-Design, document, and manage the deployment projects of NetApp FAS and E-Series storage systems in a mixed 7mode and Cluster Mode environment providing CIFS/SMB, FCP, FCoE, iSCSI, and NFS services to Solaris, VMWare, and Microsoft Windows server and clients

As a Network Engineer for DFAS’s Network and Storage Engineering team, I was responsible for planning and managing the implementation of Cisco switches and routers.  I developed an in-depth knowledge of data center design and traffic planning that allowed me to work alongside virtualization and storage engineers to provide optimal data flow to critical business applications.  I provided tier III support to our operations staff diagnosing network connectivity and performance issues.  I lead the implementation of Cisco Secure Access Control Server and RSA Authentication Manager and enabled our sister security and telephony teams to achieve multifactor authentication compliance.  I also created and managed the Network Time Protocol policies for all devices in the DFAS Enterprise.

-Design, test, procure and implement solutions for network, storage and virtualization challenges

As the JNN Team Chief, I led a highly talented and diversely skilled team of ten service members. It was my ultimate responsibility that all policies and procedures regarding IT security, joint exercise planning, equipment deployments, daily operations, and configuration modifications on network hardware and software were executed in accordance with established regulations.  The Joint Nodal Network (JNN) is an incredibly complex network environment providing connectivity to both the Contiguous United States (CONUS) and Outside the Contiguous United States (OCONUS) locations.  The system consists of both Local Area Network (LAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN) utilizing Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.

-Perform network management functions in support of maintaining, troubleshooting and reengineering of nodal assets as needed in support of operational requirements
-Install, initialize, operate, perform field level maintenance on electronic nodal assemblages, combat net radios, and ancillary communications equipment.
-Perform as network controller in Brigade Combat Team Network Operations (BCT NETOPS) section
-Perform and assist subordinate operators to execute nodal and communications security (COMSEC) operations, associated computer and software related technical tasks. Interpret orders and compile system statistics for the shift and node.
